Report on the nomination of Iliana Ivanova as a Member of the Court of Auditors

This report by Inés AYALA SENDER (S&D, ES) was written for and adopted by the Committee on Budgetary Control. It concerns the Council’s nomination of Iliana Ivanova as a Member of the Court of Auditors.
Iliana Ivanova was born in 1975 in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. She holds two masters degrees in International Management with focus on finance and development from Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management, Phoenix, AZ, USA; and in International Economic Relations from the University of Economics, City of Varna, Bulgaria.
As a current Member of the European Parliament (a position held since 2009), Iliana Ivanova has been Vice-Chair of the Committee on Budgetary Control; Vice-Chair of the Special Committee on the Economic, Financial and Social crisis; Vice-Chair of the Delegation for Relations with China; Member of the Committee of Internal Market and Consumer Protection and a Substitute-Member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs. She spent much of her early career working in the US working within finance and has, according to her curriculum vitae, held senior positions as a financial analyst for the Bank of America and investment analyst for BSB Capital/Beal Bank. She has also been a contracting auditor for Ericsson, USA.
After evaluating the credentials of Iliana Ivanova, the Committee on Budgetary Control has agreed she fulfils the necessary requirements.
The European Parliament voted to approve the report on the 13th June 2012 with 309 for, 39 against and 185 abstentions.
